CMA has completed 10 hew homes for affordable rent in Inveraray. This is an extension to the existing groups of affordable housing along Barn Park to the south of the town centre.
The development was built by Mull based construction company, TSL, and officially opened by Councillor Robin Currie, Leader of Argyll and Bute Council. He was accompanied by the children of Inveraray Primary School who picked the name of the development, ‘Dun Na Cuaiche’ which in Gaelic is ‘the hill of the cup, or bowl’ which can be seen form the site.
The new development is made up of 4 x 1 bed flats, 4 x 2 bed flats, a 3 bed bungalow and a 3 bed detached house. A number of properties have been adapted to meet particular needs. The homes have all been designed to the greener energy standards, which includes provision of air source heat pumps to provide a high standard of energy efficiency. The total overall project cost was £1.9 million delivered through a funding partnership of £1,130,000 from the Scottish Government, £120,000 from Argyll and Bute Council, and £660,000 invested from ACHA.
The new tenants were handed their keys by Councillor Currie to the pipe music of Pipe Major Stuart Liddell, who leads the grade 1 world champion pipe band from Inveraray.

“After the challenges of the last 2 years with Covid 19 it’s great to be back to normal, building much needed homes. I’m delighted that, with the support of our partners the Scottish Government and Argyll and Bute Council, we are able to continue to meet housing need with this development in Inveraray.
Councillor Robin Currie added;
“The delivery of local affordable housing in Argyll and Bute remains a priority for the council and I am delighted to officially open ‘Dun Na Cuaiche’.
We want our communities to thrive. Providing low carbon, good quality homes for future generations, not only adds to the long-term economic success of the area, it contributes to a climate friendly Argyll and Bute. We hope tenants will be very happy in their new homes.”
