Care in the Community Programme
Care in the Community Programme
Glasgow City Council
We have been involved with Homelink (Providing Homes for People Leaving Long Stay Hospital), Care Providers, Social Work Departments and various Housing Associations in new build projects and adaptation of existing houses for the Care in the Community Programme.
These houses have included compliance with Housing for Varying Needs Standards to provide full wheelchair access and circulation, assisted bathing facilities and numerous specialist installations to suit individual residents, including overhead tracking, changing plinths, stair lifts, wheelchair lifts and domestic passenger lifts.
As a result of involvement in the Care in the Community Programme, Alex Carnegie assisted Glasgow City Council, Environmental Health Department in the development of Housing in Multiple Occupancy Standards, and has advised Homelink, Care Providers, Social Work Departments and Housing Associations on house purchase and adaptation of existing Care in the Community houses.
Barbara Anderson of Homelink and Alex Carnegie made a presentation on Care in the Community Housing and Housing in Multiple Occupation Requirements to the Scottish Housing and Support Conference 2002.
