For this project in Keills, our client Jacqueline wanted a large single storey house but with the potential to expand into the attic space in the future. We envisaged a house with bedrooms to one end on two floors with a full height living space to the front. We then took out the upper bedrooms but leaving space where the future stair would be to place another ground floor bedroom. This layout gave her the flexibility of space that at some point in the future, if she was to extend up to the attic that it was already planned out and laid out efficiently. We managed the bathrooms, en-suites and kitchen into groups whereby any extending could utilise existing pipe runs with the shortest distances.
In the end Jacqueline liked the design of the upper floor plan and asked for that to be added now so we were able to add an upper floor deck and balcony to the main living space that created a snug area over the kitchen.
