Tigh Beag, literally meaning Litte House was exactly that. a perfectly formed little cottage on the edge of Port Charlotte. The clients original thoughts were to expand into the attic but early measurements proved that this would be unfeasible. A resulting large dormer was very much not in keeping with the shape or feel of the cottage.
We opted to create a unique single storey extension to the rear. We optimised the full height roof space and the sloping gardens to create a maximised volume to a new family room, kitchen area. We used contemporary materials to offset the extension but keep it true to the feeling of ‘little house’.
