Marrion McGregor approached us to design her a unique house for her site at the top of Glenegedale, Islay. This marvellous site with expansive views across Laggan Bay, The Oa, Jura and beyond really did give us a wealth of ideas of how we could maximise this aspect for the site. Marrion was very keen to have a showpiece house to match and maximise the views. We had a very creative period of fulfilling all her briefing requirements for rooms, spaces and general flexibility of space along with grand plans for large picture frame windows and balconies. This did inform the design heavily. The pressures of an extended lay off over covid and the following increase in building materials meant some elements of this were lost but we still ended up with a house that takes full advantage of its location, the surrounding views and a tremendous attitude towards creating something wonderful by this client.
